Luke Smith Interviews David Jaffe

January 22nd, 2007 . by Josh

Ahh David Jaffe, the man who brought us Twisted Metal, God of War and soon Calling all Cars, In a recent interview for the 1UP Show, Luke Smith gets fairly hard core on the Sony first party developer, asking such questions as "Did SCEA send Resistance to die?"

Well the interview was actually really well done, and a lot of information came out of the upcoming Playstation Network downloadable game and many of Jaffe's views on the entire game industry as we know it. Definitely a worthy watch if you want to see his opinions on Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony's latest console and strategies.

Hideo Kojima Eyes 360

January 22nd, 2007 . by Josh

The man behind Metal Gear, Zone of the Enders and much more seems to be keeping a close eye on the Xbox 360, and the PC. Wait the PC? Thats right, it seems Hideo Kojima really wants to develop something outside of the consoles for all of our PC's.

The 360 part is not too surprising, Kojima has had different versions of his Metal Gear Solid franchise pop up on the original Xbox, so we can only assume he'd like to do something on the 360 as well.

MotorStorm Delayed?

January 18th, 2007 . by Josh

Although Playstation 3 users may import the Japanese version of the game with ease, many may want to wait for the North American release of MotoStorm.

Unfortunately for those who wait (myself included) it appears, Sony has delayed the game until March to do some additional fine tuning to the online abilities.

Though not completely a bad thing, I've spent a lot of time with the downloadable demo and I absolutely love it. To have it come a tad bit later but with less problems on the added online, that would be a real treat.

Just remember folks, though it comes a bit later, less patches is a good thing, EA should take note.

The inevitable curse of game releases these days is, the damn things always get pushed back to a later release date. Well Sony's answer to Geometry Wars is no exception to this curse.

According to IGN who contacted Sony of America for more information, they will be releasing a video in late January, and the actual game on the Playstation Store in late Febuary.

Final Fantasy XIII Demo

January 18th, 2007 . by Josh

There is a good chance Square Enix may possibly release a playable demo at E3 for their upcoming Playstation 3 title Final Fantasy XIII.

What great news that is for not only Square Enix but for Sony. Lets face it, though the PS3 has a lot of potential, it currently lacks content. My hope is that FF: XIII sells the PS3 like FF: VII did for the original Playstation console.

Genji Creator Talks PS3 Development

January 17th, 2007 . by jb

Genji US BoxartIn a recent interview with Genji creator, Yoshiki Okamoto, some odd tidbits arose about the aim of the game itself.

Some of the crazy highlights of interview are:

  1. Genji was originally slated for the PS2
  2. Intended purpose of Genji was to showcase the power of the PS3
  3. Gameplay was purposely sacrificed for graphics

The interview is fairly lengthy, and an interesting read.  However, if this is the mindset of game developers (graphics over gameplay) then I really fear being a gamer in the future.  Hopefully this isn't a trend, and purely an isolated case.  We can all agree that games like Gears and Resistance have shown that you can have both quality gameplay and good graphics.

Sacrificing gameplay should be the last option…
