Wii Strap Lawsuit Persists

December 21st, 2006 . by jb

Wii StrapAs you may or may not know, Nintendo is replacing the old style Wii straps with beefier straps.  Some people claim that this program was devised to squash a class action lawsuit that has been filed against Nintendo.

Nintendo has openly said that this replacement program was well underway by the time this lawsuit even arrived, and that the lawsuit is completely without merit.  I agree.

One would think that a company willing to give out free improved Wii straps would be commended…but not these guys!  They are claiming that these new Wii straps are still unproven, and therefore the lawsuit will push on.

“There is no indication of the effectiveness of new strap.”

They even went on to say:

"This whole suing thing was a great idea until Nintendo decided to freely replace the straps.  Now we just look like we're gunning for money because we're still suing them. We need to get together a bunch of people to wear these new straps and whip the arms around wildly until it breaks…yeah!  Yeah that's a great idea!  We have no dick."

OK, so maybe no one said the above…but you know that's how these people think.

Opera Trial

December 19th, 2006 . by Josh

This Friday Nintendo Wii owners will be treated to a trial of the Opera browser for the new console.

“Our software brings the power and reach of the Internet to the hottest video game system available,” says Scott Hedrick, Executive Vice President, Devices at Opera Software. “Wii’s unique interface adds a new dimension to our browser, making it a useful tool that the whole family will enjoy operating with ease.”

Come March of 2007 the full version of the browser will be released and will be free until July, then it will be 500 Wii points, granting users the ability to browse the web through their console.

Elebits Review

December 19th, 2006 . by Josh

GameTrailers.com posted a review of the Nintendo Wii game Elebits. This was a game I've been looking forward to but for several reasons I've yet to get it.

Several different sources state the game is too short, too clumsy feeling or just not fun. Others say it's the best thing going for the Wii right now, maybe this review will help you decide.

Wii’s Weather

December 19th, 2006 . by Josh

Nintendo has sent out a letter for all those who are using WiiConnect24 to inform everyone that the weather and forecasting features are now available through a system update.

Now you can all check the weather on your video game console, not sure why you would want to, but you can.

Virtual Console Updates

December 18th, 2006 . by Josh

Once more Nintendo graces us with older games, we don't really want to play, but at least they're adding content consistently.

  • Tennis – NES
  • Military Madness – TG16
  • Space Harrier – GEN

What I want to ask is, where is the fourth game? Nintendo has always released four a week. Is there some secret game coming mid week?

Wii Breaking UK Records

December 13th, 2006 . by Josh

The Nintendo Wii certainly seems to be doing well in the UK these days. After Nintendo and ChartTrack confirmed the Wii sold 105,000 units during it's launch.

According to MCV the Wii is the first console to sell over 100,000 units during a opening weekend.

Congratulations to Nintendo, but lets see if they can keep that stock flowing through the holiday period and beyond.
