Crackdown Demo (360): Impressions

January 23rd, 2007 . by jb

Crackdown BoxartWell, with the Crackdown demo on Marketplace, it's only fair that we check out how the game is coming.  Is this going to be a good game…or a Halo 3 Beta vehicle?

This game has garnered a fair amount of attention, and has a new take on the typical sandbox design.

Is it different enough?  Does it offer enough to keep you coming for awhile?

Lets dig!

New Turok (360) Screens

January 23rd, 2007 . by jb

Remember our dinosaur hunting friend?  Our little Native American who could?

Well he's back in a new adventure, and if these screens are any indication, this game is going to rule all sorts of ass.

Guitar Hero II Lacking Online

January 23rd, 2007 . by Josh

Tales from the Wii seems to be leaking into the Xbox 360. Many users were praying that since the Xbox 360 was such a "online powerhouse" that the 360 version of Guitar Hero II would have some form of online multiplayer.

Sorry folks, GamePro had some hands on time with the 360 port, and it appears, it indeed will not have any online play at all. But, if you're into online leaderboards and possible downloadable "jam packs" then you'll probably enjoy it anyway.

BioShock: No Multiplayer Confirmed

January 22nd, 2007 . by jb

According to a recent Q&A post over at 2K games, the upcoming Sci-Fi shooter, BioShock, will not feature any multiplayer.  Seeing that the game is heavily environmentalistical (TM), it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that this game wouldn't be gunning for the deathmatch crowd.

Another bummer from the Q&A was the announcement that no demo is currently planned.  They mention that this may change, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

In case you've been living in a bomb shelter for the past year or so, here's a developer discussing all things BioShock.

Psycho Mom Looks for Mario 360, Hilarity Ensues

January 22nd, 2007 . by jb

PSYCHO MOM!This story is insanely annoying and funny at the same time.  The sheer ignorance of this person is great.

I fully encourage you to check out the entire story over at Retail-Sucks, but the highlight reel of this event consist of:

–  Psycho-Mom insinuating a Mario 360 game exists
–  Psycho-Mom attempting to get employee fired
–  Psycho-Mom smashing her RAZR on the floor in anger

You have to feel for the guy, as I'm sure he just wanted to lash out at this person.  Kudos to him for keeping his cool in the face of terror.

Had I been in his shoes, I'm sure I would have found a way to paper-cut her to death with a Zelda cardboard stand-up.

Luke Smith Interviews David Jaffe

January 22nd, 2007 . by Josh

Ahh David Jaffe, the man who brought us Twisted Metal, God of War and soon Calling all Cars, In a recent interview for the 1UP Show, Luke Smith gets fairly hard core on the Sony first party developer, asking such questions as "Did SCEA send Resistance to die?"

Well the interview was actually really well done, and a lot of information came out of the upcoming Playstation Network downloadable game and many of Jaffe's views on the entire game industry as we know it. Definitely a worthy watch if you want to see his opinions on Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony's latest console and strategies.

Hideo Kojima Eyes 360

January 22nd, 2007 . by Josh

The man behind Metal Gear, Zone of the Enders and much more seems to be keeping a close eye on the Xbox 360, and the PC. Wait the PC? Thats right, it seems Hideo Kojima really wants to develop something outside of the consoles for all of our PC's.

The 360 part is not too surprising, Kojima has had different versions of his Metal Gear Solid franchise pop up on the original Xbox, so we can only assume he'd like to do something on the 360 as well.

Two-axis Xbox 360 Controller Mod

January 22nd, 2007 . by Josh

Well, if the Nintendo Wii and the Playstation 3 can have their own little motion sensing controllers, then why can't the Xbox 360?

Which brings us to Adam Thole's two axis tilt controller mod for the Xbox 360. Not much more than tilt control, but he has a video (see below) that shows it actually being used for several games. What was a two and a half week mod job, turned out to be a fairly cool project.

For more information on the tilt sensing Xbox 360 controller, check out Adam's website.
