Gears Free Content

December 14th, 2006 . by Josh

Generally the words free and Xbox Live don’t mix all that well. But according to Epic they’ll be releasing ‘something’ as free Gears of War content.

Although unspecified, anything that comes free on the Xbox should be greeted by a hug and kiss. Maybe in the long run other companies will take note how Epic is releasing something for free.

Rainbow Six Vegas

December 14th, 2006 . by Josh

For all those who own this game, the next time you throw it in your Xbox 360, you will be greeted by a lovely auto update. As of late it seems there have been more patches and companies giving information of a upcoming patch (I'm looking at you Epic, Capcom). Is this a sign to come that hopefully game developers will actually spend time to improve their games?

Hopefully but the way I see it, atleast for companies like EA auto patching is just another crutch to get their games out of beta 5 months after they've been released to the public.

Xbox Live Arcade Release

December 13th, 2006 . by Josh

Ah, another Wednesday and another Xbox Live Arcade game has been released. Today folks, the name of the game is Assault Heroes and it will run you around 800 Microsoft points.

Enjoy your co-op shooters folks, but remember, try the demo first. Most Xbox Live Arcade games look nice, until you play them.

Halo 3 Beta For Sale! Almost…

December 12th, 2006 . by jb

Halo 3 LogoRemember that Halo 3 article I wrote?  The one that said:  "Future Headline: 'Halo 3 Accounts: $3,500 average on eBay'"?  That day is coming a lot faster then I thought.

An undisclosed website based in Europe is attempting to sell it's allotment of Halo 3 Beta invites.

In response, Microsoft sent a warning e-mail to all European based websites.  The e-mail states:

"If your site is found to be one of the offenders you will not receive any beta codes and will be removed from the XCN with immediate effect. We will also ensure that Microsoft will no longer have any involvement with your site"

I hurts to be so right…

EA Puts Bandaid On Madden

December 12th, 2006 . by Josh

As just recently posted on, EA finally released a patch to fix online gameplay issues for Madden NFL 07 on the Xbox 360.

Although some users are still complaining of latency issues, all I have to say is, it’s about damn time, EA. I mean, honestly, it took you people months to fix the fatigue issue, and now even longer to fix online issues?

Well atleast it’s done, figures I just started playing it again too.

Fable 2 To Use Havok

December 12th, 2006 . by Josh

As it seems obvious there would be a sequal to the famed ‘hybrid’ RPG Fable. Luke Smith at writes that Havok announced Fable 2 will be using their Havok Complete which will be the games physics engine.

I’ll be interested to see how this game handles itself. Will it be what people wanted out of the first? There is no doubt the first Fable sold well, but all I remember was people were disappointed in the original title.

According to source's the currently-in development mmorpg Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, is now no longer just in the works for PC's but now being developed for the Xbox 360.

Funcom CEO Trond Arne Aas had this to say:

“This is a groundbreaking leap forward for Funcom. The fact that we now get the chance to develop ‘Age of Conan’ for the Xbox 360 means access to a potentially whole new and large MMO market,”

Take-Two Football Comeback?

December 11th, 2006 . by Josh

Am I physic or what, while playing Madden NFL 07 on the Xbox 360 yesterday with Keith, I mentioned that it would be neat if Take-Two made a football game with a different roster and such.

Today at work while reading the Kotaku RSS feed they have an article on how 2k Sports (Take-Two) will be making a football game next year based on historical players. This is good news for us, although, yeah it's historical football and all, but it's still competition for EA's Madden NFL which I believe has become extremely stale. Heres what IGN has to say:

"2K fans need to brush up on historical players (how can you play a game with legends if you can't tell Steve Young from Steve Bono?). And EA Sports is going to come out blazing with new features in Madden to try and hold off the throwback phenomenon Visual Concepts will finally announce sometime after the new year."

Hopefully all this will come true, and 2k Sports will get back to making a good football game, with an actual football feel, which like Kotaku said, "this rumored competition will light a fire under EA and Tiburon"

Blue Dragon Steals Japan

December 11th, 2006 . by Josh

Has hell finally frozen over? A Microsoft product actually sold in Japan?

Well aparently so as Blue Dragon sold around 70k copies during it’s launch period in Japan.

Lets hope Microsoft can continue to try to branch out, as is now Sony and Nintendo clearly have Japan by the balls. And though Blue Dragon had a decent launch sale, I doubt many other 360 titles will grab them.
