Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft … and Apple?

December 6th, 2006 . by jb

AppleBox PhatAccording to analyst firm, Prudential, Apple may be ripe enough to enter the game console business.

Already having iPod games in place and having a TV interface with iTV: it appears very possible.

With the entire iTunes library at their disposal, Apple could turn their potential gaming console into a "360-esque" media center.

"Apple recently launched a limited videogames download service for the iPod, and has hired games developers specializing in both hardware and software…"

Just what we needed, another group of fanboys to enter the fray.  I'd take the Apple/Nintendo merger rumor over this one any day of the week.

Nintendapple?  Applendo?

Better those then this mythical "iWillCost2Much" system Apple may be cooking up.

God of War 3 Lives!

December 4th, 2006 . by Josh

But only on paper but, creator David Jaffe comes off as REALLY wanting to make this game. Unfortunately he needs to finish God of War 2 before that can even happen. Nonetheless I think God of War 3 on the Playstation 3 could really help that console take off, that game has kept the Playstation 2 alive even with the Xbox 360 looming over it's head.

One thing you need to give this man is props, at least hes straight forward, drunk or not. He has my respects for being as honest and public with what has been happening with his games and career.

Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2 Review

December 4th, 2006 . by Josh

Tiger Uppercut! PEWPEWPEWThe folks over at Gamedaily, posted their review of Capcom's latest compilation. You can view it here.

It's still no big surprise that all these companies are releasing past titles to rekindle retro hearts, but if you ask me, it's starting to get a tad done now. I mean, with tools such as Xbox Live Arcade, Virtual Console and the Playstation Shop, why not just release these classics through that? Thats exactly what they're meant for anyways!

World of Warcraft + Myspace = Warspace

December 2nd, 2006 . by Josh

Frankly, for the last year, I've been saying that World of Warcraft has become nothing more than a graphical Myspace.com. A former player of the game myself, I've noticed it filled with trends, and people who aren't playing, but merely using it as a social network.

But that isn't stopping Napster creator, Shawn Fanning, from attempting to create his own social network for World of Warcraft, currently named Rupture. According to sources, Rupture is supposed to be going live a month from now, but as always, that could change.

Editorial: Gaming Journalists Not 100% Satisfied With Wii

November 30th, 2006 . by jb

There has been a trend amongst gaming sites lately that involves listing what about the Wii they don't like.

This to me is painful and exciting at the same time.

How you ask?!  Let me explain:

Painful

Obviously, no one likes to hear that a product the industry has been anticipating so heavily, has flaws.   Enough flaws, in fact, that just about every gaming site I visit on a regular basis has an article detailing them out.

We all know that Nintendo's new baby isn't perfect, but the fact that there are so many articles out there on this subject (and not so much on the PS3) leads me to…

Excited

The sheer amount of people expressing their disappointments with the system are nitpicking the system apart.  But I'm sensing tough love here.

The PS3 isn't exactly shining in terms of it's capabilities yet either, but why the lack of internet flaming?

    1)  Barely anyone really owns one

    2)  No one is really excited yet about the PS3 (Launch titles…?  What launch titles?)

    3)  The PS3 is flawless!

I've got my money on a combination of 1 and 2.  I personally would be fully enjoying the PS3 coming if I had the cash to get one, or if I could get one at all, or if it launched with that magic "$600 game".

Whether you love or hate the Wii, one thing remains:  It's the newest gaming platform of choice for the majority of gamers until the PS3 steps it up.

Breaking News! Parents Don’t Monitor Their Children!

November 30th, 2006 . by jb

In what should come as no shock to anyone, the NIMF is reporting that parents aren't keeping a close enough eye on their children's gaming habits.

A survey was given to both parents and children, and wouldn't you know it, the parents think they're doing a fine job!

The children, on the other hand, are reporting that they are getting away with murder, rape and theft.  Thankfully the former actions only take place in 85% of the games played by children these days…

Of the polled parents:  68% claimed that they had rules in place to dictate their children's gaming habits.

Of the polled children:  36% claimed the same.

Is this report supposed to be opening the eyes of parents?  Honestly, it's sad that parents don't monitor their children's actions.

If you're kid is shooting hookers in video games before they can read at the first grade level, then you've failed as a parent.
